Software and Apps Evaluation

1. SUSHI MONSTER
https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/sushi-monster/id512651258 Sushi Monster (free app for ipad/iphone) from Scholastic. Only allows students to practice addition and multiplication. The monster gives a number and the students feed the monster the facts. This app focuses on speed and accuracy which is valuable in learning math facts. The game  also has levels of difficulty.  The app is engaging to students. The app is a quality piece that I would use in the classroom during math centers.

2. Math vs. Zombies (a free app for ipad/iphone). https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/math-vs-zombies-math-games/id470896560?mt=8 Math problems are given and the player needs to type in the correct answer. If the inccorect answer is given the  corect one is shown and another problem is given. Speed and acuracy are key to this game. The game covers addition, subtraction, multiplication and division facts. It has multiples difficulty levels (easy hard difficult). It is engaging with its colorful graphics and music.

Math songs

1. School house rock Counting by 5's http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NUHFzH06HqU
2.  Whatcha gonna do (count by 2's, 5's 10's) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GTYxfltyPgg
4. Doubles Doubles (6-10 version) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yFuskIXXQa4
5.  School house rock multiplication http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cZ4qjYOixAg
Let's just some of the schoolhouse rock isn't quality as some other websites but its still good info. My daughter is such a auditory learner and timed math fact test send her over the edge so learning facts like this is perfect for her. This is just another option for children to catch the math fact patterns. I think in centers or even during transition times this would be a great option in the classroom.
